Inflation Source: Wikipedia Encyclopedia
In mainstream economics, the word “inflation” refers to a persistent rise in the general price level, as measured against a standard level of purchasing power. Due to the fact that different prices affect different people, there are many varying measures of inflation in use. The most well known are the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures the change in nominal consumer prices, and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) deflator, which measures inflation in new products and services created.
