Positive Psyche, riches within the mind

Tools, training, consulting and resources for business and home.

This may shock you, but I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll. my successes or my failures, fame or pain, what other people think of me or say about me, my circumstances, or my position. Attitude is that 'single string' that keeps me going or cripples my progress. It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitudes are right, there's no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me.

Charles R. Swindoll, Pastor, Author, Educator

Attitude is the cue that we project onto the world. It reflects our inner core including our insecurities and our prejudices. Strangely, most of the people in the world will... in turn, reflect back to us the attitude that we present to them, the attitude they perceive.

All of us can recollect incidents where negative attitudes spoiled the ambiance and escalated the tensions within the room. Conversely, there are many examples where a positive attitude could be felt where the team gets energized, productivity increments and a "feel good" factor permeates the air.

Each person has a personal well of energy. This energy is like fire. It can heat, build and forge or it can burn, destroy or evaporate our dreams. Attitude is an energy force that is like a double edge sword. How we use it depends on us and it is within our control.

A Positive Mental Attitude is often clouded with fear. Fear of the unknown and fear of fear is a human attribute that is easily activated. We let human emotion overtake an ability to minimize ignorance with exploration and understanding.

More often than not:
Faulty
Evidence
Appearing
Real

takes hold. This "justifies" the barriers we build and in turn – all the people of the world – reflect back to us the attitude we present to them. We are all taking our cues from each other. We live in tiny prisons of our own fashioning.

What we sow, we shall reap. All too often people let the circumstances of life get in the way to give them the excuse for a poor attitude. Some of the excuses are relatively benign and yet others are monumental.

Successful people take control of their emotions understanding the impact they can have as they lead, mentor, guide and contribute to better relationships and a better community.

Earl Nightingale, in his popular Lead the Field provides the following estimate of the things people worry about:

Things that never happened 40%
Things over and past that can't be changed by all the worry in the world 30%
Needless worries about our health 12%
Petty miscellaneous worries 10%
Real, legitimate worries 8%

In short, 92 percent of the average person's worries take up valuable time, cause painful stress – even mental anguish – and is absolutely unnecessary.

We can change course, or spend force.

Having a positive attitude puts us in control. We control our destiny and feel comfortable with ourselves enabling us to be open to new experiences and new learning's.
